Rectifier

The Stillpoints Rectifier is a patented noise reduction device that connects directly at the IEC inlet of audio components — DACs, CD players, streamers, preamplifiers, and amplifiers.

What sets the Rectifier apart is its bi-directional filtering. It removes noise from the incoming AC supply before it reaches the component, but critically, it also filters the AC current leaving the component — preventing noise generated by that component from contaminating the mains supply feeding other equipment in the system. This upstream pollution is an often-overlooked source of degradation, and the Rectifier addresses it at source.

The design draws on Stillpoints’ extensive experience with Entreq and Telos grounding products, combining proprietary ERS (Electromagnetic Radio Frequency Suppression) material with additional filtration technologies in a compact, elegant package.

What you’ll hear

The Rectifier delivers an immediately apparent lowering of the noise floor. Backgrounds become blacker and more silent. High frequencies gain smoothness and sweetness without losing extension. The soundstage expands in all dimensions, and overall musical coherence improves as the system is freed from the masking effects of mains-borne interference.

When multiple Rectifiers are deployed across a system, the effect is cumulative.

Installation

Installation is straightforward and requires no technical expertise.

  1. Turn off the entire system
  2. Remove the end cap and sleeves from the Rectifier
  3. Insert the Rectifier into the component’s IEC inlet
  4. Connect the AC power cable to the Rectifier
  5. Position the three legs as far from other cables as possible

Shims are provided for components with loose-fitting IEC terminals.

Tuning

The Rectifier includes removable sleeves for each of its three legs, allowing the filtering effect to be tuned to suit the component and local RFI environment.

Start with all sleeves removed and listen. Then add sleeves one at a time — white lead first, then green, then black — listening after each change. Depending on the system, all, some, or none of the sleeves may be preferred. The sleeves can also be trimmed to length for finer adjustment.
