The role of materials

For more than twenty years, Entreq has explored how materials influence sound. Their standard wooden caps are neutral by design, adding nothing and taking nothing away. With Max S, this philosophy continues, but with the introduction of silver into the binding post. The effect is not confined to the post itself; it subtly reshapes the performance of the entire ground box or component to which it is applied.

A tool for fine-tuning

Max S provides a simple yet elegant way to fine-tune a system:

  • On Tungsten Inside ground boxes, it enhances performance without disturbing overall balance.
  • On non-Tungsten models, it offers a gentler alternative to Max T, bringing openness, natural flow, and tonal coherence without the intensity of a full Tungsten-level shift.

Max S or Max T?

Every hi-fi system is different. Variables such as amplifier power, source components, cables, and room acoustics make each system unique. For this reason, Max S should not be seen as “less than” Max T—it is simply different. Some systems will thrive with the energy and drive of Max T, while others will shine with the refinement and subtlety of Max S. The best way to determine compatibility is always through listening and trial.

Beyond the ground box

With the arrival of the new Tuss Kit (coming soon), Max S (and Max T) are no longer limited to ground boxes alone. By connecting directly to electronics such as a DAC, pre-amplifier, or phono stage, they bring their transformative qualities into the very heart of the system—much as the MaxMix T2 Kit does for loudspeakers. This opens up further possibilities for tailoring performance to individual systems.
