This year, hi-fi+ have given Gold Note two awards in their annual awards edition. We can now reveal that the fabulous DS-1000 EVO LINE has won in the Digital – DAC up to £10k category.
The award write up states, “The sound produced by Gold Note’s flagship DAC is elegant and refined with good imagery, detail and dynamic shading.” As Alan Sircom wrote in his review of the unit back in issue 223, “This is a DAC with fire in it’s belly, passion in it’s heart and dresses in style!”

DS-10 EVO & PSU-10 EVO Highly Commended 2023
Adding to the awards cabinet for Gold Note this year, hi-fi+ have also given the DS-10 EVO and the accompanying PSU-10 EVO a Highly Commended award for 2023.
Noting in their write up they say: “[Chris Thomas] felt that it ‘constantly exceeded my expectations’ and that the most notable thing about the DAC (in context of the system) ‘is how adaptable it is to just about any style or flavour of music'”.
We have to agree, this small but mighty unit is popular for a reason. It’s an exceptional performer with a ton of options at a really attractive price point. When coupled with the PSU-10 EVO it really comes alive and makes for a fantastic small system with a simple upgrade path.
